Kanye West has become the poster boy of what is to come in Hip Hop… I like his music…his first album was full of emotions that i could identify with, however, Kanye samples too much… he’s rapidly coming the king, the the producer who samples the most… The “Common” Cd was wonderful…full of beautifully written lyrics making hommage to black people to love and to the future, but Kanye produced the whole album and it is full of sampling…full full of it…but kanye is still kanye and we love him. Gold Digger is also a beautifully shot video done by Hype Williams (it seems Hype come out of retirement for this video)..the women are also very beautiful…I think we should be yelling KANYE KANYE KANYE instead of mike jonze.

Yeah, Kanye is the ish…
Yeah, he samples a lot but still, he manages to create a fresh new Hip hop content, far away from the generic mainstream media
After hearing Kanye’s comments stating that race is behind the slow response to help the victims of Hurricane Katrina I will no longer ever buy or support in any monetary way Kanye West or anything that is connected to him. It’s sad that a talented musician like himself has to stoop so low to try to stir up controversy by bringing up the “race card”.
I don’t know man…
He didn’t seem to be really interested in making controversy but more upset than anything… And it’s weird when two persons doing the same thing are portrayed differently. I’m far away so I can’t really rely on anything but what’s on TV, so I see people in the most powerful country in the world look like 3 world people and what gets on my mind is “how can that happen?”
Kanye only voiced what many Black Americans wish they had the opportunity to say. It is not a coincidence that aid didn’t come quickly, it is not a untrue that the armed services were given the right to shoot to kill, it is a fact that most of the most hard hit victims are Black,
“Our country” has reacted more quickly and effectively when the likes of Laci Peterson, 9/11 victims, Oklahoma bombing victims, hurricane Andrew, Jon Benet Ramsey and even the runaway bride is seemingly in need of media coverage, police services, etc.
Buk, I’ll purchase two CD’s to make up for the one you don’t buy!
I feel ya T Dub…
Kanye West his really tallented and down to earth. And when u watch that video, I think I would’ve done the same…
The same questions West is asking, all media over here are voicing them too…
Watch the footage here:

I think Kanye was only stating the obvious, but unfortunately the obvious is what he said. I must admit that his comments were made very rashly, but who can blame him, he was upset. I was too. I am a black person leaving in the US, and the media has been a big part of how we are portrayed…If any anyone who has seen the news clipings that Kanye is talking about, will notice that there is a very clear difference in wording between whites and blacks who are both take food out of stores during the disasters. I wish more black people would also understand that the Bush is not necessary racist but he is a classist…he will aid everyone and anyone who can fund him, support him with their money and that is not the poor…it is unfortunate that the poor are mostly the minorities the black…
its tragedy and it shows the world the weakness of the united states.
peace

I appreciate all of your thoughts and comments, but let’s not lose sight of the big picture and ask ourselves some tough questions.
1. Why is a person as incompetent as Bush serving a second term?
2. How many black Americans voted in the last election?
3. How can a man who can’t appoint a competent FEMA Director be trusted appointing two Supreme Court Justices?
4. How many scholarships could Diddy fund with the watch he wore to the MTV awards?
Kanye said “Bush doesn’t care about black people”. Why should he, we don’t vote.
Big Daddy 40, u got a point
But as I understand, the voting system in the US is special…
In France for exemple, when 1000000 people vote, u got 1000000 votes… In the Us, u got this big electors thing that screw everything up right?
this is how you evaluate the decline of a civilization, with a person like Bush in power…big Daddy 40, there is nothing that i can tell you that you dont already know…the question is what are we doing about it…nothing…so…???

I agreed with what he did. He spoke passionately & he spoke from the heart. How could any black american see what has transpired in the Delta & not become emotional over the situation as it unfolded. Be honest with oneself, if I was in that area…. it would be myself & my children experiencing the exact same horror. I will buy his new album. He did us proud in my opinion. I wasnt really a fan until now
i aint sayin ima gold digger …but i dont mess with no broke niggaz ,lol just playin …but hey u nko wa’ im mean …
love yaaaaaaa
I LOVE your song “Gold Digger” I like when Jamie Fox comes on and be saying ” She did me wrong when im in need” !!!!!!!!!!!!
people can anyone tell me the name of the latin girl in this video, she is hot!!!!!
Anyway who cares what kanye said, he just probably wants the free publicity! and he should stick to what he is good at = MUSIC not politics!
Good God!
Just stumbled on this page through google looking for info on the video. As a white guy from England who is sick of hearing uninspired stateside hip hop hastily thrown down by ghetto wannabes flooding the music channels and radio I have to admit I was getting ready to turn my nose up at this track…but this kicks arse(that’s how we spell “ass”)! And talking of ass what a great video!
Seriously tho this is amazing - it’s exactly what music should be - fresh, witty, intelligent and not a little bit sexy! I will be buying the album.
Even though I’m definately anti-Bush (as is everyone in Europe - I feel I can speak for my continent!!) I feel I was a bit of a shame about his outburst on that telethon. Personally I think the reaction to the hurricane was appalingly slow and watching it from this side of the atlantic the sense of unnecessary delay was agonising. However I think racism is an unlikely reason for your government’s tardiness. Without a doubt it showed a lack of the initiative and adaptability which is sadly necessary today in a government. But…
Woah, that almost got serious then! let’s just enjoy the video one more time…
Yours sincerely
Willy (Kanye convert!)
yay Willy, way to go homie
Hey y’all - lovin this song and video! Can anyone tell me the name of the girl in the video with blonde hair? I’d love to see a whole lot more of her
Yea i want to now to
She HOT! WHAT IS HEAR NAME ? From Christian, Denmark
Reading the above responses regarding Bush and Hurricane Katrina’s response and Kanye West comment. I 100% agree with Kanye I am a white american and I have a problem with Bush’s respones as well If I was Kanye I would have told Bush the same thing. Why is it when Tsunami hit our Troops were there in the matter of a day to provide support and relief efforts but Hurricane Katrina hit and Bush has not any clue what to do. He running around like a scared dog with his head chopped off. No I don’t think so, face it he didn’t care it wasn’t his problem, his “kind of people”, it wsan’t the people that voted for him in the elections so why care. Bush is racist why did it take soooo long to get help and relief to the victims from Hurricane Katrina any Bush fans that can answer that please let us know!

Damn I’m a whitey, but Kanye rocks. Gold Digger is the ish…Does anyone know the name of the girl in black that is going psycho with mic. Damn she’s fine.. Much respect to Kanye for putting out Jesus walks, a lot of artists would be scared to go there. Peace everybody!
Oh yeah and does anyone know the name of the song he did with Common on Dave Chappelle’s show???
He sucks!!!!
man reading all this crap about katrina and racism is just freaking old. Get over it people, it happen and thats the end of that. As for saying bush is racist, fema responded to late, and so on. I just have couple of questions:
1. Where was the african-american community when their fellows needed the help?
2. How much money did Kanye West and the rest of the millionares give to help those in need? (have a website with this stats show me)
Its a bunch of crap to hear from african-american celebrities say i would participate on a concert to give to them, i mean come on stupid concerts only make thousands, when they can just open their checkbooks and donate millions. But hey, who is to judge. All i got to say its put your money where your mouth is. Those people didnt need toys, clothes, or material stuff. They needed the money to rebuild their lives and buy some food.
All i heard was that bush is at fault and what ever… but the stupid mayor of new orleans and the governor of lousina are more at fault. They were the ones that needed to activate their state’s national guard and have them ready as soon as the hurricane went by. So, if we all look here everyone had something to do with it.
Kanye is writing a new musical chapter and Gold Digger is joyful noise.
As for Kanye’s Katrina comments, he was spot on. If the 9th Ward had been filled with white, evangelical, middle-class people, EVERYTHING about the response would have been different. The question that those who want to apologize for Bush is, are you going to vote for another person who will let it happen again, or are you going to vote for someone who is committed to ensuring that nothing of the kind is ever again visited upon even the poorest among us? My guess is the apologist will be willing to risk its happening again. Somewhere in the back of their small minds they think the 9th Ward residents and others like them are a tax on our society and could “get ahead” if they only would. He Is Heavy, He Ain’t My Brother…right?
The song Kanye and Common did on Dave Chapelle was “Food”, it is on the Common album “Be”.
Yall right. For this new year you got to understand that this world is fucked up from long ago. Kanye is cool for saying what he said. But, hey, just remember it takes a long time to make those poor people what they are. So bottom line is it’s gonna take a long time to make their reality change. The retards that think racism is not implicated are just unrealistic. The reality of this weird world didn’t star with Kat. and the page will be turn to be better centuries in the future. It’s take more comments like Kanye’s to change things around. Kaysha you ROCK !
I juste love this world, damn fools !!!
is beyonce knowles in this gold digger video!!?? i think she is!!!!! i bet im right
A bientôt
Listen this whole racist thing is out of control. Lets face facts ppl it didn’t matter if the ppl in NO were white or black it comes down to how much money is generated by saving a place like NO.
If this were to happen to a region where the majority of folks are white cmon you think there aren’t natural disaters everyday (midwest) and there is 0 again 0 relief for these ppl and yes they are almost all white regions.
The fact of the matter is if this happened in NY/Boston/Cali the response would be huge and not because of the color of ones skin but the money that is lost by any one of these areas.
Anyone from NO hope you find home and stability soon.
LOL, reading the above comments is a riot…
All the BS about racism and money is nonsense too. If you any of you people saying that NO didn’t get help quickly because it was full of poor blacks had a brain you’d look at previous FEMA response times for other natural disasters. It takes days just to get recovery people and equipment into place when the statewide public transport system has been devastated folks, much less for them to actually start doing anything…
Now there is no doubt that Bush screwed up appointing a crony to head up FEMA who had no experience running it, and that there were major screw ups when things FINALLY got underway but to say its all because of racism/money and blame it all on Bush is just plain ignorant and smacks of the political hypocrisy/extremeism that the Bush=Hitler crowd spouts.
Now that all that crap is outta the way… IMO Kanye is a idiot who knows how to rap, I’ll happily listen to his music but just cuz he writes good music doesn’t mean he knows jack or s*** about anything, and after watching him b**** and moan on TV about not getting a award and stuff I just tune out whatever he says.
PS: anyone got any links to pics of Veronica Rodriguez (smokin’ hot girl in the video)? GIS turns up nothing!! ;(

i ain’t ga lie i agree with kanye because if it is the truth think about it.you think if someone said to u u don’t like black people and u got so much power would’nt u throw him in jail or something.its da truth goerge bush does not care about black people.and i don’t know if its a racist vibe and personally i dont care because what kanye said was da truth if it was’nt he would have been in jail right now.if we really think about what if a ordinary person did say it what would have happen to them??? just think about it and let me know
Does anyone know if beyonce is in this video?
